Fursuit Commissions
Can I place an order if I am under 18?
Yes, but strict requirements apply. If you are under 18, all of the following conditions must be met:
- Parental consent: During the communication process, we must confirm by email or video call that your legal guardian is aware of and approves the purchase.
- Contract authorization: All legal agreements and liability waivers must be signed by your legal guardian.
- Payment verification: Payment must be made from your guardian’s account to ensure proper authorization and compliance.
What does “custom made” mean?
All of our fursuits and custom items are made to order. Each piece is handcrafted specifically for you based on your character design, measurements, and selected options. Because every suit is built from scratch, no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
What information do you need from me?
Depending on what you order, we may ask for:
- Reference images of your character
- Color and material preferences
- Body measurements
- Shoe size, head size, and hand size
- In some cases, a Duct Tape Dummy (DTD)
We will guide you through exactly what is needed for your specific order.
What is a Duct Tape Dummy (DTD)?
A DTD is a simple body form made using tape that captures your exact body shape. It allows us to build certain suits directly around your real proportions, ensuring better fit, movement, and comfort.
Will you provide instructions for making a DTD?
Yes.
If a DTD is required, we will provide clear step by step instructions to help you make and ship it correctly.
How long does a custom fursuit take to make?
Production time varies depending on the complexity of the design and our current workload.
Once your design is fully approved and all required information has been received, we will give you an estimated production timeline.
Custom fursuits take time because each one is handcrafted and built specifically for you.
Do all full suits require a DTD?
No.
Only certain structure fitted full suits require a DTD. These include:
- Digitigrade body styles
- Performance fit designs
- Realistic or muscle padded bodies
Shell style or toony full suits do not normally require a DTD and can be made using standard measurements.
If your design requires a DTD, we will let you know before production begins.
Will my suit look exactly like the reference images?
We always aim to match your character design as closely as possible. However, because every piece is handmade, small variations in shape, stitching, and detail are normal and part of the handcrafted process.
What about vision and mobility?
Fursuit heads, especially realistic or stylized designs, may have a limited field of view depending on the character. This is a normal part of fursuit construction and varies by design.
Some body styles, especially digitigrade or padded suits, may also affect how you walk, sit, or move. We design all suits to balance appearance, comfort, and mobility as much as possible.
How many design revisions do I get?
Before production begins, we typically go through three to five rounds of design confirmation with you. This ensures that colors, shapes, materials, and details are all approved before anything is built.
Once production starts, design changes are no longer possible.
Can I send updates or new ideas after ordering?
Yes, as long as production has not yet started.
Once the design is locked and work begins, changes are no longer possible because the suit is already being built for you.
What if my measurements change?
Your suit is made based on the measurements or DTD you provide. If your body changes after production begins, we cannot remake or resize the suit. Please make sure your measurements are accurate and up to date before submitting them.
Fursona & Digital Designs
What rights do I have for digital fursona designs or custom fursona commissions?
For digital fursona designs and custom fursona design commissions, the customer owns the character rights after full payment has been completed.
This means you may freely:
- modify or redesign the character
- update the character design over time
- trade, gift, or sell the character to another owner
However, the artwork itself remains created by FurMakers, and customers may not claim authorship of the artwork.
The original artwork files may not be redistributed or sold as standalone artwork without permission.
FurMakers also reserves the right to display the artwork in portfolios, galleries, or promotional materials unless otherwise agreed.
Can I modify my fursona design after purchase?
Yes. Once the character design belongs to you, you are free to modify, redesign, or update the character as you wish.
Many customers choose to update their characters over time with new outfits, colors, or design changes.
Can I sell or trade my fursona design?
Yes. Since you own the character design, you are free to trade, gift, or sell the character to another owner.
However, the original artwork files may not be redistributed or sold as standalone artwork without permission.
Can I use the design for commercial purposes?
Commercial use may require additional permission depending on the situation.
If you plan to use the character design for merchandise, branding, or other commercial projects, please contact us first to confirm usage rights.
Can I commission artwork using a character I do not own?
Customers must ensure they own the rights to any character references they submit or have permission from the copyright holder.
FurMakers is not responsible for copyright disputes related to materials provided by customers.
Can FurMakers display my commissioned artwork?
Yes. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, FurMakers may display commissioned artwork in portfolios, galleries, social media, and promotional materials.
This helps showcase our work and completed commissions.
Is my suit safe to wear?
Our suits are designed for costume and performance use. They are not medical or protective equipment. Vision, heat, and mobility are affected by wearing a fursuit, and you should always take breaks and stay hydrated while wearing it.
Shipping
Where do you ship?
We ship worldwide. Orders are shipped from our workshop to the address provided at checkout.
When will my order ship?
Your order will ship after it has completed production or fulfillment and passed final quality checks.
For custom products, shipping depends on the production timeline of your specific order.
For non-custom items, shipping timing follows the availability stated on the product page or order confirmation.
What shipping methods do you use?
We recommend international air shipping, which provides a good balance of cost and delivery speed.
For the safety of all products during transit including protection from moisture, compression, and structural stress, we do not offer ocean or sea freight.
How long does shipping take?
Under normal conditions, international air shipping takes approximately 5 to 10 business days after dispatch.
Delivery time may vary depending on customs processing, local carriers, and holidays.
Will I receive a tracking number?
Yes. A tracking number will be provided once your order has been shipped.
How are fursuits and accessories packaged?
To protect your order during international shipping, different items are packaged according to their structure and materials.
Heads and rigid components are packed in reinforced boxes with protective materials.
Some soft or compressible items such as tails, paws, or certain body parts may be vacuum sealed or compression packed to reduce volume and minimize the risk of moisture, shifting, or damage during transit.
All materials are designed to return to their original shape after unpacking. If you have questions about unpacking or recovery, we are happy to provide guidance.
Are customs duties or import taxes included?
For most countries, applicable customs duties and taxes are already included in our prices.
In some regions where duty-inclusive shipping is not available, customs duties or import taxes may be charged by local customs authorities and will be the responsibility of the buyer.
For a list of applicable countries, please refer to our Shipping Policy page.
What if my package is delayed by customs?
Customs processing is outside of our control. If your shipment is held for inspection or clearance, delivery may take longer than expected. We will assist by providing any required shipping or declaration documents when needed.
What if my package arrives damaged?
If your package arrives with visible damage, please take clear photos of the packaging and contents and contact us immediately. We will assist you in filing a claim with the carrier.
What if my package is lost?
If the carrier confirms that a package is lost, we will assist with the claim process. Replacement or compensation will be handled based on the carrier’s final claim decision.
Returns
Can I return or exchange my order?
For custom products, we do not accept returns or exchanges unless there is a confirmed manufacturing defect.
For non-custom items, return and exchange policies follow the terms listed on the product page.
What should I do if there is a problem with my order?
Please contact us within 24 hours of delivery with photos and a description of the issue. We will review the situation and work with you toward a resolution.
Can I refuse delivery?
Refused shipments are not considered returns. Any costs related to refusal, failed delivery, or return shipping may be deducted from any applicable resolution or claim.
Can I cancel or change my order?
Because all items are custom made, orders cannot be canceled, returned, or exchanged once production has begun.
Before any work starts, we will go through approximately three to five rounds of communication with you to confirm all design details. This is your opportunity to review and approve everything carefully before we move into production.
